A study guide is only useful if you can tell where each claim came from. These are the parts of RecallQuill that make that possible.
Cards you can rewrite
Prompt, answer, and key term are all editable. The paragraph number and the verbatim anchor stay locked, so an edit can sharpen the wording without quietly detaching the card from its source.
Two to twenty cards per pass
Choose how many cards a generation should produce. Smaller guides suit a single topic; larger ones suit a full chapter split into sections of up to 30,000 characters.
A schedule, not a static document
Each card is scheduled the moment it is created. The library shows what is due now, how many cards you reviewed today, and how many have reached a long-term interval.
How the workflow works
Three steps from raw notes to a guide you can revise from.
Supply the material
Paste text or upload a UTF-8 .txt or .md file. The character counter shows exactly how much of the 30,000-character allowance the source uses.
Generate and read the anchors
Pick the private engine or Luna, set a card count, and generate. Open each card's cited paragraph and fix anything the generator misread.
Study and export
Rate cards Again, Hard, or Known to schedule them, then export the deck or the whole account as JSON whenever you want a copy.
Current limits, stated up front
What this page does not promise:
- Sources are UTF-8 text and Markdown you paste or upload — not PDF, OCR, image, video, audio, or office documents.
- One generation accepts up to 30,000 characters, and uploads are capped at 1 MB, so long material is studied in sections.
- A source anchor shows where wording came from; it does not prove a card is a good question. Read the anchor and edit the card.
Questions about generating a study guide
Where does the study guide content come from?
Only from the source you supply. RecallQuill splits it into paragraphs and builds cards from sentences inside those paragraphs. It does not add outside facts, and a generated card is discarded if its quoted wording cannot be found verbatim in the paragraph it claims to cite.
How long can the source be?
A single generation accepts up to 30,000 characters, and uploaded .txt or .md files may be up to 1 MB. Longer material is studied by generating one deck per section, which also keeps each guide focused.
Can I change a card after it is generated?
Yes. Prompt, answer, and key term are editable at any time from the study view. The cited paragraph and the verbatim anchor stay locked so the card remains traceable after the edit.
Does the guide expire or lock behind a plan?
No. Decks stay in your private library, and you can export any deck — or the whole account, including schedules and review history — as JSON and re-import it later.
